The Research Team - Employee Recruiting 3.0 Project

Lindsey Fair, Project Lead
I have been teaching at St. Lawrence College for almost 7 years and have also taught at Loyalist College. This summer I will be teaching at Fleming College as well. I typically teach new media, marketing and advertising. I have had the opportunity to teach at the Royal Military College of Canada on Web Marketing and presented several lectures on marketing at Queen's University. I love being in the classroom, learning from students, and teaching them what the business world has taught me.

Through my current work as a Web Marketing and Social Media Specialist I consult on a variety of web marketing, SEO and social media strategies to clients. I also present regular workshops geared towards social media for small business.

Matt Landers, Project Manager
I am a recent graduate of the Advertising Integrated Marketing Communications program at St. Lawrence College. My activities at St. Lawrence consisted of being involved with the Fuse Mentorship Program, working with Independent Living Centre Kingston by providing awareness videos for their organization.
In terms of my main accomplishments at St. Lawrence College, I received a Greg Award for 3rd place Best Overall Podcast with my team of three for FCAS.

I got bit by the social media bug while attending school, and therefore very interested in learning further about the different aspects it has to offer. My goal is to land a full time position relating to social media and online marketing for various companies.

My interests include watching movies, reading, graphic design and running.

Olga Dolia, Marketing Researcher
My current educational background includes studying at the Gomel State University in Belarus, where I intended to become a teacher (completed 3 out of 5 years required). As of right now, I am enrolled in the first year of the Business Administration Marketing program at St. Lawrence College.

My current priorities include completing my education in the Business Administration Marketing Program and supporting the team project as market researcher. I am a volunteer for the Kingston Writers Festival, where my main duties revolve around promotions on its behalf.

My hobbies consist of hiking, biking, canoeing, wall climbing, salsa, traveling, reading, learning foreign languages (French, German and Spanish). I am currently able to speak three languages which include Russian, Ukrainian and English.

Casie Jones, Recruitment Researcher
My education consists of having an Advanced Human Resources Advanced Diploma from St. Lawrence College's Business Administration program. I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration Program, which is jointly organized by Laurentian University and St. Lawrence College. I am expected to graduate in December, 2012.

In terms of my past activities, I worked for Westport & Rideau Lakes Chamber of Commerce as a Tourist Ambassador for the summer of 2010.  I was involved in creating the first Business Expo, where we gave first year students the opportunity to have a more in-depth look into Marketing, Accounting, and Human Resources. I was also involved in TEDxSt.LawrenceCollege, which my class of 14 organized for business professionals within Kingston.

I am currently working for the Upper Canada District School Board as an HR Summer Intern, where I will help implement an Attendance Replacement & Reporting System across the entire board.  I am also spending the summer with my friends in order to experience all the summer festivals within Kingston, Brockville and Ottawa.

My interests include horseback riding, hiking, reading, fishing, and snowmobiling.

Chris Green, Advertising/Social Media Strategist
I am student currently enrolled in the Advertising Integrated Marketing Communications program, where I  will be entering for a third year of learning at St. Lawrence College. My main activities over the past year have revolved around volunteer work for the local Kingston United Way branch, blogging, and reviewing learned marketing/advertising concepts.

My core personal interests are predominately centered towards reading, running, blogging, and watching/playing hockey. With regards to my current activities, I seek to establish and strengthen my network of contacts further, improve upon my usage of social media, and achieve the objectives of this research project.

I have recently taken a keen interest in the use of social media within business practices, as it is always a topic that shows up in many marketing and advertising websites. This interest is not purely coincidental. I have always held a strong sense of curiosity towards events occurring within specific media. The powerful connections formed between the very news we read daily and the social media used to push it forth from a variety of outlets is virtually seamless. As a result, this interconnectedness between social media and the news was what sparked my interest in public relations. Not surprisingly, social media has become a natural component within that specific realm of marketing communications. The social media research project will allow me the opportunity to fully experience the power of social media and digital communications.
